Being friends

May 9, 2012

“You literally have changed his chemistry by being his friend.” (Lopez, 2008). A physician tells this to the author regarding the author’s friendship with a man living with schizophrenia. I love how being n a friendship with someone can improve the health of that person. I also like how the author of this book talks about how the friendship may be benefiting the author more than the man living with schizophrenia. Our world would not be as wonderful if it was empty of people who our society currently disables. People that we have disabled have much to contribute to our world. Sometimes we (disabled people) do this by DOING something like playing beautiful music. However, other times (and likely more times) we do this by just BEING who we truly are.

 Let’s talk about friendship?
